Loreto MX with Trumms & Kendricks~May 8-15, 2025 NOT FINISHED!

I've been retired since 2010...15 years and in that time Bruce & I have traveled all over.  Unfortunately, I'm just now realizing how great a blog would be.  So, I'm going to start with our most recent trip and work backwards as far as I can.  Here goes:

May 8-15, 2025

We took our friend Dave & Rebecca Trumm and Susan & Mike Kendrick with us to Villa del Palmar, Islands of Loreto, Mexico.  We had a spacious 3 bedroom unit giving everyone plenty of space for everything, including a large lanaii.  Here's the view from our 7th floor room.

Jerry & Janna Christensen were at Loreto at the same time as us. Jerry planned a boat outing for the group for the day after we arrived.  He knew a guy, Jorge, who rented the boat, captain, and made our food, fresh trigger foot ceviche.

We dined at all the on-site restaurants: Casa Mia, Clubhouse (on the golfcourse), and Dazante (my favorite.) On Tuesday, we went to the owners Happy Hour with drinks & appetizers at the Disco.  

One day, we rented the shuttle to town, walked around the stores, visited "scary dead guy" at the church, (Leo was freaked out seeing him on our family trip in March 2025). We then ate dinner at "Mi Loreto" which has amazing food.  I had a chile relleno...way more than I could eat! Bruce had the shrimp.

One morning we rode the trolley up to the Clubhouse.  From there we walked up the road to the 17th hole of the golf course. As you can see, the hole overlooks the Sea of Cortez. Bruce jogged off to do the long 6 mile route around the golf course. The rest of us walked along the trail back to the beach. 






We had a great successful trip with friends, even though Dave & I both had some stomach issues. Not certain what that was all about as I haven't had those kinds of cramping for years. Adios, Loreto! Til next year!

CRETE BIKE RIDE with Cycle Greece, Colleen McGuire Oct 8, 2025-Oct 23, 2025 On  10/9/25, w e flew into London Heathrow in 'business class" with a little different arrangement; "1, 2, 1" seat layout. Definitely a new plane. We walked to the Hilton Garden Inn, right on the airport property, then headed to town on the "express train" ending up at Paddington Square. We wandered around Hyde Park, Kensington Palace & had a fish & chips dinner in a busy little pub invited by a couple young men to join them at their table. Headed back to the hotel and went to bed, around 8:30pm London time. Then on to Athens. We stayed a couple nights close in, before the biking crew arrived giving us a chance to do some sightseeing. Puerto Rico Adventure Cycling~Dec 6, 2021 (NOT FINISHED!)

Adventure Cycling Inn to Inn-Puerto Rico Bike Ride, Dec 5-12, 2021.  (ride was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid) Bruce & I headed to Dorado after landing in San Juan. We found a couple local restaurants after walking the entire length of the gated & locked community. Actually we ate at newly opened authentic Puerto Rican place . Nothing fancy but crowded & very good. They had excellent margaritas & fish tacos.  We assembled our Co-Motion bikes then tested them out, heading to a local bike shop. We never found the shop but we did find several wild pigs, bike tire grabbing road grates, loud music booming cars. The next night we ate at La Vaca & shared paella & chuckled over their TRUMP signs. A poster of Trump on a Harley Davidson announcing the restaurant as “The best little shithole restaurant!” We went to check out the La Perla community which we went to in 2012.  It sits right next to the ocean. Savannah to Charleston, SC~April 25-May 2, 2025 COMPLETE

Great Bike Rides South Carolina Tour We stayed downtown Savannah, within walking distance to the waterfront. We had a full day of sightseeing including the JW Marriott that had a museum on the first floor. The building used to be a power plant.  This was our 2nd ride with “Great Bike Rides” with Simon Burrows. We started in Savannah so spent the first night there. Walked along the waterfront, went the JD Marriott which was once a power plant. The ground floor is now a free museum of a giant steel brontosaurus, lots of panels made of sliced geodes (lights behind) and marine paraphernalia. Very cool.  We tried to eat at a shrimp shack nut it was too far from our hotel so ended up eating somewhere else on the way back to the hotel. The 2nd night we explored Broughton St, a pedestrian street with margaritas on tap & live entertainment. A fun street. We ate there at a fancy diner; it drizzled lightly on us but not a problem.
